Australian Wildlife Journeys

Australian Wildlife Journeys (AWJ) is a Tourism Australia ‘Signature Experience’ and a collaboration of like-minded tourism operators, who offer sustainable wildlife encounters with a special focus on high quality interpretative guiding and conservation activities. With this in mind we work collectively with each other, to promote Australia and its wildlife, sustainable operations and the beauty of this vast continent.

Australia boasts a truly remarkable wildlife story, being home to the world’s most biodiverse waters, the highest number of endemic bird species, the highest number of reptiles and fascinating marsupials. So where do you go to find these extraordinary experiences and how do you know what you are getting is the real deal? With so much information to wade through and with Australia’s vast differences and opportunities, we wanted to be a part of this community that thinks our wildlife, in particular, and our diversities are invaluable to any Australian experience.

Collectively as a group we want to provide reliable and rich information about our different wildlife and their unique specifics such as the type of wildlife we encounter (mammals, reptiles, bird, marine life and invertebrate) and seasonal events that happen within these groups such as breeding and migratory patterns. A high priority for all in the group is to be able to watch and observe wildlife in their most natural state and habitats, and enjoy the ‘wild’ behaviour of all wildlife.

By sharing and collaborating we can offer and advise all who visit Australia an idea of where to go and when is the best time for your wildlife adventures. Start planning your wildlife experience.

Why Australian Coastal Safaris and the Eyre Peninsula

Australian Coastal Safaris has been showcasing the regions unique aquatic wildlife activities and the amazing diversity of the natural wildlife of the Eyre Peninsula since 2005.

The EP (short for Eyre Peninsula) is considered Australia’s ultimate temperate aquatic playground, featuring striking coastlines, vast sand dunes, rugged offshore islands, secluded coves and picturesque coastal heathlands. Get the adrenalin rushing with the close encounter of the Great White Shark and then totally immerse yourself, playing with the ‘puppies of the sea’ - the Australian Sealion and the bottlenose dolphins. With only a few places in the world to glimpse the awe of the Great White or swim with sealions & dolphins it is truly a ‘bucket list’ opportunity. Winter comes with a different sort of aquatic adventure, watching the majestic Southern Right & Humpback Whales.

Not to be outshone is our diversity of land & air wildlife & nature. With 100 National and Conservation Parks Eyre Peninsula is emerging as a must-see destination for Eco and Wildlife Tours. Southern Eyre Peninsula is home to 270 species of birds and 1,900 native plant species, providing abundant opportunities to spot western grey kangaroos, koalas, emus, threatened southern hairy-nosed wombats, Port Lincoln parrots, rock parrots, golden whistlers, white-browed babblers, various waterfowl at Big Swamp and an array of seabirds including cormorants, terns oystercatchers, black winged stilts, osprey and white-bellied sea eagles.
